How a little ‘You Time’ with Clinique can help you find the secret to healthier, happier skin.

Recently I was invited by the lovely ladies from the Clinique counter in Boots, Chapelfield Norwich, to come in for one of their complimentary ‘You-time’ appointments.

The idea behind these appointments is not only are they a great chance for you to have a little pamper and take time out of your day to day to disconnect, stepping away from social media (even I managed to do this apart from taking photos with my phone.) The best part is that you can choose any area of skincare/makeup for them to focus on and trust me you’ll leave enlightened!

For me personally, my face is the first warning sign for when I need to take a step back and have some me time so I really enjoyed my mini detox.

First and foremost the product Polly used to remove any old makeup was the product that everyone has been talking about- Take The Day Off™ Cleansing Balm (£23)

I can seriously say that it’s worth splashing out on and not attempting to make your own as I’ve heard people are doing with vaseline.. ew. Personally I’m not a fan of slimy sticky things but this balm has the perfect consistency to literally melt your makeup off (with good old-fashioned wipes still playing a crucial role in removing any excess)

After a few questions regarding my skin it was clear I have combination skin (basically an oily T-Zone with relatively dry cheeks)  So Poppy used the 3- Step System for Skin Type 2 (£20) to prep my skin and I just love how none of their products are fragranced so they really feel as though they’re actively helping your skin. I was particularly impressed with their liquid exfoliator which was powerful without being at all abrasive. I think the Sonic Brush helps with this too as it makes sure the product is worked into your skin but doesn’t rub at your skin unlike others.

Next up was none other than the UK’s #1 Moisturiser Dramatically Different™ Moisturizing Lotion+ (£30) which acts as the perfect prep layer barrier before any makeup (you know when you feel like makeup clogs your pores) and then the Pep-Start™ Hydrorush SPF20 Moisturiser (£24.50) to really prime my skin ready for foundation.

Also from that same range, Poppy applied some  Clinique Pep-Start™ Eye Cream (£22) to my under eye area. I have to admit I’m guilty of already owning this after seeing my ultimate girl crush Steph Smith had it.. but luckily the caffeinated formula does actually work in brightening up your under-eyes! ( Who knew even products needed coffee!)

I was then lucky enough to have a mini makeover and thankfully Poppy popped all of the products onto a sheet so I can remember them for you guys! The girls Molly and Poppy really didn’t hold back and made me feel super relaxed which was great.

We decided to go for a full coverage foundation as I’m too scared to go for anything else to be honest! Beyond Perfecting™ Foundation and Concealer £27

For those of you obsessed with Estée Lauder Double Wear this is a serious contender and is amazing for allowing skin to breath which ensures it never looks ‘cakey’ (the only time I’ll ever use that word negatively..)

Now comes the best bit as not only was my highlight on fleek despite being from an eyeshadow!? but I was introduced to my little lashes new BFF Lash Power™ Flutter-to-Full Mascara (£20) Not only does the packaging look pretty cool but there’s a dial so you can click it and set it to different intensities depending on whether you’re going ‘out’ or ‘out out’.

As you can see I’ve popped all of the appropriate links up but please do pop into Boots Chapelfield as it’s just such a lovely experience and you won’t have to wait in for the postman or risk missing a parcel like you would if you were boring and just ordered online…

But you know, if you’re still not convinced that skincare’s even for you then just have a look (if you dare) at the little skin test below…img_1089img_1088

All in all I genuinely would probably go all out and say that for skincare in particular,  Clinique are my favourite brand. I think their genuine brand story helps me to trust that they know what they’re doing and that their products will actually do what they say on the tin! As much as I love fancy packaging as much as the next blogger, it really is what’s inside that counts when it comes to these products.
